MoH reconsidering standards used to evaluate medical cadres

According to recent reports quoting Dr. Ali bin Shukur, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the MoH is currently reconsidering standards used to evaluate medical cadres, under a new policy that aims to secure a competence level for doctors.

The reports quote the Under-Secretary further as follows: The new assessment criteria will largely depend on transparency and will take into consideration the accredited hours of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, scientific research conducted by doctors and their participation in medical symposia and seminars.

The medical, technical and administrative cadres who fully availed of the CME program adopted by the MoH have so far reached 190.

The MoH had of late set new conditions for assessing efficiency of medical professionals, including dentists, under which doctors have to pass interviews conducted by the MoH and obtain accredited hours on CME from recognized health institutions in the country.
